On May 15th, IMCD Italy marked the International Day of Families by granting all employees a day off to spend with their loved ones. This annual celebration, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993, recognizes the family as the fundamental unit of society.
“In a world where everything is changing – and often very quickly – the family (not just the traditional model, but also single-parent, rainbow, and multi-ethnic families) remains a point of reference,” emphasized the Managing Director Marco Madeddu. "The theme for 2025 – 'Family-oriented policies for sustainable development' – reiterates that there can be no 2030 Agenda and sustainable development without families."
The International Day of Families serves as a reminder that all families, including those that are less conventional and often discriminated against or forgotten, have the right to exist, be recognized, and be supported. IMCD Italy's decision to grant a day off to its employees reflects the company's commitment to fostering a work-life balance and valuing the importance of our people.
Stefano, Inside Sales & Sales Support, had the chance to spend the day at the seaside with his wife and their 1-year-old daughter, Celeste. "It was a wonderful opportunity to disconnect from work and focus on quality time with my family," he said.
Chiara, HR Generalist, was able to return to Sicily and spend the day with her parents, whom she had not seen since January. "Enjoying a seaside lunch with my family was the perfect way to celebrate this special day," she shared.
