A multifunctional fabric freshener for odour control and wrinkle reduction
In response to growing consumer demand for sustainable and high-performance textile care solutions, IMCD Home Care and I&I have developed a multifunctional, fabric freshener formulation to offer an effective alternative to frequent washing, combining odour control and wrinkle reduction in a single application. This fabric freshener not only offers long-lasting freshness but also promotes easy ironing.
The multi-functional formulation was tested in-house on cotton swatches and fabric surfaces under controlled conditions (23°C, 60% RH), demonstrates the formulation’s efficacy in reducing wrinkles and controlling malodour. Wrinkle reduction and odour control were assessed both pre- and post-treatment, concluding that the products offer a practical solution for fabric maintenance, reducing the need for frequent washing and supporting resource conservation, while ensuring long-lasting freshness.

- Wrinkle reduction: The formulation decreased wrinkle levels by 1 unit in both pre-treatment and post-treatment scenarios. Faster results were observed when applied directly to wrinkled fabric.
- Odour control: Immediate freshness was achieved through ethanol and fragrance, while long-term malodour prevention was attributed to the microbial action.
- Application versatility: Effective on various fabric types, including cotton and synthetics, and suitable for on-the-go use or garment preparation before extended wear.
