Dual-layer spray application for improved water-repellent effect
This water-based rain repellent formulation is developed to improve the performance and longevity of treated textiles. Designed for application on both synthetic fibres and natural fibres, with minimal ingredients this formulation optimises performance while providing a PFAS-free water-repellent solution for textile care applications. It combines silicone emulsions with a silicone resin, achieving effective hydrophobicity with less than 2% active content. This is a cold processable formulation which is mixed via stirring and applied in two layers, each then dried at room temperature. Contact angle measurements consistently exceeded 140°, indicating strong water repellence and uniform coating. Performance was retained across washing cycles, particularly on synthetic fibres.
